Thar Be A Treasure Hunt!!!

Hey, everyone! For those of you that may be reading this for the first time, this is my blog! (Me being Jack, the crazy one you all know and love. Well, hopefully love. XD)

Now, to the reason you're probably checking the site: UC Treasure Hunt. It's an idea I had based on some of the things music tours are doing with Twitter. Basically, they're hiding things such as backstage passes, gift cards, etc. somewhere on-venue, with Twitter clues, pics, and such to help fans find where they are.

I thought it would be really fun if we could do this around Union City.

Here's the plan: I will hide a prize somewhere in Union City. Keep in mind that it may not be in an easy-to-see location, or it may be moving... (snigger) The location will be slowly discovered through the use of Twitter. Let's say I hid a McD's gift card taped under a table at the park. I would then give clues to the location, such as "Boy, I'm thinking about grabbing a sandwich and eating out at the park!" or "Hmm... the playground looks awfully tempting from over here..." Now, I'll post more than one clue per prize, each clue getting more obvious. But, if I have to be crazy open with the clues, that prize will be held on to for next time.

Now, I've set up a Twitter account, @uctreasure, to run this thing. I know Twitter may not seem to be the best way to do this, but trust me. It is. For those of you who may not know how to use it, I'll be doing a program on KISS next week to show the public what it is, how to use it, etc. So, just watch that, and you'll be fine.

Next, I'll be setting up a secret website for... Stuff. Every winner will be given the link to this site, and there will be a couple of times where I will drop a card with the link on it somewhere around town. This link is EXTREMELY important, as it will be the location where you'll find the hints and clues for the final prize, something I hope to be pretty darn good.

NOW, PAY ATTENTION FOR THE MOST IMPORTANT BIT!

I've really only come across one problem with this plan: funding. I want to be able to do this, but I might have trouble coming up with prizes. So, I've thought of a solution. I'll need some sort of helper for a few of my ideas. So, if someone brings me a prize to use, I'm going to let them have a little fun with me hiding and executing the plan... Hehe. Now, these prizes aren't supposed to be huge. I'm thinking an average of $5 for the "donated" ones. There will be bigger ones, but I'm not asking for that.

So, if you can help, I would GREATLY appreciate it.

I think this could be a really fun activity for kids around UC. And who knows, we might actually make it bigger as time goes on...
