Crunk, Coasters, and Confusion!
So, for a break in Warped recap, I'll take you to the scene of ANOTHER concert I caught yesterday. Every year, Kings Island (the closest theme park I've got) throws a Christian music party, bringing in some of the biggest names in the genre, and having a SWEET festival. This year, Family Force 5 happened to be playing. So, me the fam (two cousins of mine), and another dude hit KI for their show yesterday. The day started out chaotically, but I won't get into that. Let's just say we left at least an hour (probably more, I forget) later than we had planned, with a different member in our party that we had planned. But, after that, things were pretty smooth. We got down there just fine, I didn't get us lost! Woo! (I was the official driver of the day.) We stopped at Taco Bell for some grub, and things were finally looking up. Right? WRONG.
We arrive at Kings Island to find rain, and the biggest crowds I've ever seen there. We parked about the farthest away you could park. (I'm really not exaggerating here. Seriously, we were a hundred yards away from the entrance to the parking lot.) Then, every ride had a line exceeding the area designated for the line to follow. So, we waited a WHILE to ride Face Off, then hit Top Gun. Pretty fun, though. After that, we headed out to see Fireflight and FF5.
Fireflight... Good band, but I'm really not into them. I ended up energy drink hunting during their set. But then, FAMILY FORCE 5!!! Though we had horrible seats, (Section 12 if you've ever been to the venue) the show was AWESOME! It made up for all of the junk we went through that morning. Those guys know how to party. I must say that my fave bit of their entire show was during Radiator. In the place that they inserted a Katy Perry bit @AP, Soul Glow Activator did something else instead. "I'll be a Radiator just like you... AND YOUR MOM!" Seriously, a your-mom-joke. AWESOME.
After the set, I hit up the meet and greet, where I had a mini-convo with the guys about random stuff. After the very small chat we had, I can tell you all they really do care about their fans. Trust me. I'd heard this from a few people, but from what ChapStique and Soul Glow told me, it really confirmed it. Thanks guys, you made my day right there in that little tent.
So, for the rest of the night, we went to Burger King, grabbed some grub, and caught Diamondback. DEFINITELY the best coaster there. (Fatty and Qwygon enjoyed it, we saw them on the ride in front of us, then caught 'em in line again after we rode.) We rocked the Wild Thornberry's ride as well. GREAT, that.
So, now for the ride home. I'm pleased to inform you all that we got lost. Maybe three times. I was FREAKING OUT. Seriously. But, Grizzle (my cuz) got me through, making me remember some stuff from earlier in the day. So, we made it home, and there ends my story. Sorry it took so long. Yeah.
